Hi, I'm Deon.
What I love about my work is knowing that something I designed became part of how someone actually does their job. At DiMuto, it was watching colleagues pull up features I'd shipped during meetings to track active trades — not for a demo, but because that's how the team worked. At Sleek, it was reading NPS and CSAT responses where customers named specific features and explained how it made their lives easier.
I tend to start every project by making sure we're solving the right problem before anything touches Figma. The gap between launched and genuinely used is the one I care most about closing.
Outside of work, I take a lot of photographs — on my commute, during travels, any time there's interesting light, a good outfit, or people in motion. It started as a hobby, but it's become a habit of visual attention I carry into how I think about design.
I make regular trips to design exhibitions and independent design and craft markets — I like seeing how good design shows up outside of screens.
I also trained in contemporary dance through university and for a few years after, and still follow performances when I can.
